Background: Primary care physicians need to have the basic knowledge about the physiology of wound healing in-order to be able to assess and manage wounds at primary care level. Having the fact that many primary care physicians did not have enough training in wound management necessitates the need for structured hands-on training to gain and maintain competence.

Session Description: This 2-3 hours Wound Management Workshop is designed as a basic course for GPs and Family Physicians.

Topics include wound management in Primary Care that includes:

• basic wound healing physiology.
• assessment of wound
• indications of sutures, tissue glue and skin closure.
• different types of dressings and how to choose the appropriate one.
• Updates in antibiotics use and tetanus prophylaxis in wound management

The learning atmosphere will be informal and participants will have ample opportunity to discuss points of particular interest together with hands-on opportunity.

Aim/Expected outcomes: At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to demonstrate the correct wound management techniques and appreciate the theoretical and practical knowledge of Wound management performed in primary care.

Methods: Mini-lecture including Multimedia presentations, Hands-on training, and general discussion.
